loving children

April 29, 2010 § Leave a comment

“Modern society, at the level of rhetoric, loves children “unconditionally.” But at the level of reality, its indifference to them borders on the surreal. Society increasingly places bald conditions upon loving them: Are they wanted? Are they perfect? If not, abort them; if not, re-design them.” (George Neumayr, in Three Humans and an Embryo)

Reading this leads me to question, just what is the recent church scandals so widely propagated by the media about. Whatever it is about, it seems it is more about proving the church is a corrupt institution rather than defending the rights of children who have been abused.
