Fidelity in small things

Eugene was sharing about a talk during vocation retreat in which the speaker walked into the room and asked everyone to smile at him. He then remarked that everyone had brushed their teeth.

What was his topic? My title says it.

Everyday, we do little things like brushing our teeth. That is why our teeth still haven’t rotten yet, unlike the teeth of our ancestors. Little things make a HUGE difference.

I also encountered such an idea when the producers of the show ‘The Break Up’ talked about it. They said that couples often fight about the little-est things, but these little things are actually symptomatic of bigger problems in the relationship. Or, little annoying things that keep happening over and over again cause much resentment. How true!

Be faithful in small things because it is in them that your strength lies.

In this life we cannot do great things. We can only do small things with great love.
