epiphany for the beginner cook

Last year, during a cookout at Jess’s place, I learnt how to differentiate between onions, ginger, and garlic 😡
This year, because I love eggplants so much, I’ve been looking high and low for them.
What seemed curious was that although the stuff in the market labelled brinjal looked stunningly similar to the eggplants in the photos, they were…brinjals. Thinking that one can’t go wrong with labels, I searched high and low for the label eggplant. I couldn’t find one…so I took a tiny risk and got a brinjal.
When I went home and googled this curiosity, I found out that brinjals ARE eggplants. To think I’ve been looking high and low for what was right in front of my eyes.
