happiness

It may sound cliche,
but if the clouds are grey,
and I’m in dismay,
a day out by the bay,
and a little sea spray,
will chase all the horrible
blues away!! 😀
Having ice-cream, both on the hand and on the blouse, helps abit too 🙂

people first

When reflecting on  how the travel plans have been made and why they have caused so much anguish and disappointment, I came to the realisation that it is because they lack a certain element—the focus on people.

Admittedly, it is only when I felt left out of the plans after exams because my passport didn’t allow me to go to USA that I realised how some friends might have felt when some went ahead with some other plans without consideration of how the others in the group may have felt.

I can understand why there was a focus on what/where/when/how of our travel plans. We want to make the most of our time here, and we think that this involves going to as many places as possible. However, if you have ever witnessed the most breath-taking spectacle before your eyes and at that moment thought how nice it would be if you had your loved ones beside you, you would agree with me that the ‘who’ part of travelling matters greatly too.

It is my hope, then, for the people whom I’m here with recognise this fact too. In fact, I would like to suggest that it is the people you’re travelling with who are more important than the places to which you’re travelling to. You cannot have fun alone, or at least as much fun as you would in a group. You also need people to look out for you, and they need you to do that for them too.

I could just be sitting on a bench in school trying to study, but imagine my delight if my good friend comes a knocking. Imagine the places in our humanity we could explore in our conversations, all the insights we could glean which we could never have come upon by ourselves. One needn’t even need to book a tour to gain these.

Where Am I?
